Elevate your nursing career with specialised training in renal dialysis care. Gain the knowledge and hands-on skills to provide high-quality treatment, support patients with kidney conditions, and excel in renal healthcare settings.

About the Programme

The Post-Basic Renal Dialysis programme is designed for Registered Nurses who wish to develop specialised knowledge and clinical competencies in renal nursing.

The programme prepares nurses to care for patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases who require renal replacement therapies, including haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and other specialised renal interventions. It combines evidence-based theoretical learning with extensive hands-on clinical training to develop the competencies required to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred renal care.

Students develop specialised knowledge and advanced clinical competencies in renal nursing, including kidney disease management, renal replacement therapies, vascular access care, fluid, electrolyte and acid–base management, patient assessment and monitoring, infection prevention and control, management of renal-related complications, patient education, and multidisciplinary renal care.

Through supervised clinical exposure in specialised renal and critical care settings, students develop the confidence, advanced clinical competencies, critical thinking, clinical judgement, and professional values required to manage complex patient needs throughout the renal care journey.

Upon completion, graduates are prepared to undertake specialised nursing roles in renal and dialysis services and contribute effectively to multidisciplinary teams in hospitals, dialysis centres, specialist renal units, and other healthcare settings.
