About the Programme

The Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Technology (Honours) is a specialised undergraduate programme designed to prepare competent, highly skilled and industry-ready cardiovascular technologists who play a vital role in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and management of cardiovascular diseases through the application of advanced cardiovascular technologies.

The programme provides a comprehensive foundation in medical sciences, cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, and cardiovascular pathology, integrated with specialised training in advanced cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional technologies. Students develop both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies in key areas, including electrocardiography (ECG), echocardiography, cardiac catheterisation, cardiac electrophysiology, haemodynamic monitoring, and comprehensive cardiovascular patient care.

A distinctive feature of the programme is its strong emphasis on supervised clinical training in specialised cardiovascular healthcare settings. Students gain extensive hands-on clinical experience through structured clinical placements, where they work alongside cardiologists and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals. This practical exposure enables students to develop the technical expertise, clinical competence, professionalism, and confidence required to deliver high-quality cardiovascular diagnostic and therapeutic services in contemporary healthcare practice.

The curriculum places strong emphasis on patient safety, evidence-based practice, critical thinking, ethical and professional conduct, effective communication, teamwork, and lifelong learning. Upon graduation, students are equipped with the knowledge, technical expertise, and clinical competencies required to support cardiovascular diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional services.

Entry Requirement

LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

i. Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM)/ Matriculation/ A-Level/ Pre-University programme or its equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.50 in the following subjects:
    – Biology/Physics
    – Chemistry and
And 5 credits or equivalent at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level 3 of which in the following subjects
     – Mathematics
     – Physics
     – Chemistry
     – Biology
     – English

OR

ii. A Diploma (Level 4, Malaysian Qualification Framework, MQF) in Health Sciences and related field from recognized institutions with minimum CGPA of 2.75

iii. A Diploma (Level 4, MQF) in Health Sciences and related field from recognised institutions with CGPA less than 2.75 and a minimum of 3 years (36 months) working experience in the same field. 

AND

English Competency Requirement (International Student):
Malaysia University English Test (MUET) with minimum of Band 3 or its equivalent

and IELTS 4.5
