About the Programme

The Diploma in Medical and Health Sciences is a full-time programme designed to prepare students to become competent and clinically skilled Assistant Medical Officers, equipped with the medical knowledge, practical competencies, and professional values required to deliver safe and effective patient care.

The programme combines comprehensive academic learning with extensive practical and clinical training, providing students with a strong foundation in medical sciences, patient assessment, clinical care, emergency medicine, diagnostic procedures, therapeutic interventions, and professional practice.

Through hands-on learning and supervised clinical placements, students develop the clinical competencies, critical thinking, communication skills, and professional judgement required to assess patients, assist in diagnosis and treatment, respond to medical emergencies, and contribute effectively as members of multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Upon successful completion of the programme and subject to the applicable professional registration requirements, graduates are eligible to register and practise as Assistant Medical Officers. They are prepared to serve across a wide range of healthcare settings, including hospitals, emergency departments, primary and community healthcare facilities, emergency medical services, and other healthcare environments.

The programme also provides a strong foundation for further studies in medical and health sciences and related healthcare disciplines.

Entry Requirement

LOCAL STUDENT

i. Passed SPM or equivalent with at least FIVE (5) credits including;
– Bahasa Melayu/ Bahasa Malaysia
– Science subjects:
– Biology or Chemistry
– Physics and passed Biology; OR
– Science/General Science/Applied
science
– Mathematics
– Mathematics; OR
– Additional Mathematics
ii. TWO (2) credits from any other subjects, AND

iii. Pass in English

Student shall be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner recognized by the recruiting institution and free from mental illness, physical or sensory disabilities, infectious diseases (HIV or AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, etc.), genetic diseases, epilepsy and drug abuse.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

GCE O-Level or its equivalent with FIVE (5) credits in the following subjects:
i. TWO (2) from Science or Mathematics
subject (Biology/ Physics/
Chemistry/ General Science);
ii. THREE (3) from any other subject.
AND
iii. Pass in English OR
iv. Candidates with other relevant qualifications are subject to approval by the MAB

Student shall be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner recognized by the recruiting institution and free from mental illness, physical or sensory disabilities, infectious diseases (HIV or AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, etc.), genetic diseases, epilepsy and drug abuse.
