The Educational Trip to Ipoh, Perak for students enrolled in the History of Psychology (DPSY1073) course under the November 2025 semester was successfully conducted from 14 to 15 January 2026. The programme involved 40 students and 2 lecturers, offering an immersive learning experience beyond the classroom.
The educational trip aimed to enhance students’ understanding of psychology through direct exposure to historical and applied settings. One of the key visits was to Hospital Bahagia, Ipoh, where students explored the Hospital Museum, Psychiatric Ward, and Rehabilitation Workshop. These visits provided valuable insights into the development of mental health care services in Malaysia, as well as the practical application of psychological principles in clinical and rehabilitation contexts.
In addition, students visited Kellie’s Castle, a significant historical landmark in Perak. The visit allowed students to contextualise psychological theories within broader historical and social frameworks, enriching their appreciation of how history, culture, and human behaviour intersect.
Overall, the educational trip successfully achieved its objectives by promoting experiential learning, strengthening students’ understanding of psychology from both historical and practical perspectives, and fostering teamwork, communication, and peer bonding. Such initiatives reflect IJN University College’s commitment to holistic education and producing graduates who are academically grounded and socially aware.
