In an effort to enhance understanding of multidisciplinary approaches in cardiac care, the Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Technology (Hons) students of IJN University College successfully organized a program titled “Roles of Allied Health Professionals in Heart Failure Management” on 25 October 2025.
The event brought together 40 participants, including students and professionals from various healthcare disciplines, for an insightful session on the collaborative roles of allied health professionals in managing heart failure.
Among the distinguished speakers who shared their knowledge and expertise were:

- Mrs. Kartina Azman, Mentor Cardiovascular Technologist, IJN
- Mr. Muhd Najmi Hakim bin Abdul Rani, Senior Cardiovascular Technologist, IJN
- Mr. Rafiq Sumardi bin Omar, Senior Perfusionist, Gleneagles JPMC Brunei
- Mrs. Sharmila Devi d/o Selver Nasan, Nurse Manager, IJN
- Ms. Siti Noraishah Omar, Head of Promotion and Human Capacity Building, National Transplant Resource Centre
The session highlighted the critical contributions of allied health professionals such as cardiovascular technologists, nurses, perfusionists, and transplant coordinators in supporting effective heart failure management. Participants gained valuable insights into the evolving role of teamwork and innovation in cardiac healthcare.
This initiative marks the first heart-related program organized by the Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Technology (Hons) program — a milestone that reflects IJN University College’s commitment to nurturing future healthcare professionals equipped with real-world clinical understanding.
