29 September 2025 – Students from the Diploma in Physiotherapy program at IJN University College had the invaluable opportunity to visit the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at the National Heart Institute (IJN). The visit was part of their Cardiorespiratory I and II courses, designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of cardiorespiratory physiotherapy practices.
During the session, students were able to experience real clinical environments, observe how multidisciplinary teams collaborate to deliver patient care, and receive close guidance from professional physiotherapists and ICU/CCU staff.
This educational exposure allowed students to:
- Gain insights into critical care practices.
- Understand the role of physiotherapists in ICU and CCU settings.
- Apply theoretical classroom learning to real-world healthcare environments.
By bridging theory with practice, this visit enhanced the students’ clinical knowledge and prepared them for future roles in the healthcare industry, particularly in the specialized area of cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.
At IJN University College, experiential learning is a key component of academic programs, ensuring students are well-equipped with both knowledge and hands-on skills to excel in their chosen healthcare fields.
