Jul 18, 2025

Date: 18 July 2025
Venue: IJNUC Auditorium, Level 13, Bangunan Yayasan Selangor, Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur
Time: 10.00 AM – 12.30 PM

IJN University College (IJNUC) successfully organized a thought-provoking forum titled “Beyond The Mask: Men, Mental Health & Modern Challenges” to shed light on the stigma and challenges faced by men in navigating mental health issues.

The event brought together prominent voices in psychology, counseling, and academia for a candid and meaningful discussion on a topic often left in the shadows.

🎤 Distinguished Panelists:

  • Dr. Alizi Alias – Consultant Organizational Psychologist & Author of PENAT
  • Dr. Keith Tye Sue Kiat – Senior Counselor, Institut Jantung Negara (IJN)
  • Mr. Wan Ashmirullah – Head, Faculty of Managerial Sciences, IJN University College
  • Moderator: Mr. See Yang Wei

The session explored how cultural expectations often silence men from speaking up about their emotional struggles, highlighting the importance of creating safe spaces and accessible support systems.

One of the most impactful quotes came from Dr. Alizi Alias, who emphasized:

“Asking for help or expressing emotions doesn’t make a man less masculine — it does the opposite.”

This forum not only encouraged honest dialogue but also contributed to the ongoing national conversation about mental health, emotional resilience, and breaking gender-related stigma.

IJN University College remains committed to promoting mental health awareness and fostering a supportive environment for all individuals to thrive — mentally, emotionally, and academically.
